Pixels
-a pixel ( picture element ) is a tiny rectangle that containts information about the colour at a particular location in an image
-each pixel = specific colour
Pixel sizes
-1 bit = 2 color
-4 bits  = 16 colors
-8 bits  = 256 colors
-16 bits = 65,536 colors
-24 bits = over 16 millions colors
Image resolution
-the number of pixels that make up each printed include image
-higher resolution = better detail ( also bigger file size)
-300 pixels per inch = printing
-72 pixels per inch = screen display

-dots per ink
-1200dpi x 1200(multiply itself) / 300ppi x 300ppi
On screen size
-depends only on number of pixels that makes up the image
Print size
-depends on number of pixels as well as on the print resolution
-higher res = print smaller image
-lower res = print bigger image

How to convert on-screen size into printed size
On-screen size / resolution = printed width
